A young grizzly bear cub takes a ride on the wild side as its mother prepares to charge a male bear that had come too close for comfort. Just after this photograph was taken the cub went careening off into the grass, ejected from Mom's back, clumps of fur clinging to each of its claws. Undaunted, it climbed back on after the bluff charge only to go flying off one more time on mother's next attempt to deter the male bear from coming closer. The nervous cub then climbed on a third time, riding off with Mom as she retreated towards the safety of the trees. When the male bear finally left the area, Mom and the twin cubs came back out of the woods and peacefully grazed on grass until dark.
