Jackson Hole's most famous bear, Grizzly 399, came out of hibernation in the spring of 2020 with an amazing entourage of four new cubs.  Born in 1996, Bear 399 is the matriarch of the Tetons, and is almost solely responsible for populating Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming with grizzlies.

Grizzly bears typically have two cubs, sometimes a single, cub very rarely three and four cubs are exceptionally uncommon.  Bear 399 became well known to locals and visitors alike after giving birth to a set of triplets in 2006 and spending much of her time in the public eye.  She then proceeded to have two more consecutive sets of triplets over the next several years and has now had seven liters producing seventeen cubs, is grandmother to least ten bears and great-grandmother to two more.  She has become famous largely due to her tolerance of people.  When she has cubs in tow, she is often seen along the park roads as she hunts and forages for food, much to the enjoyment of her many fans.
